DEPARTMENT OF VETERINARY FOOD HYGIENE AND TECHNOLOGY
Operating under the Faculty of
Veterinary Medicine's Department of Food Hygiene and Technology, the Department
of Veterinary Food Hygiene and Technology is an interdisciplinary field focused
on the safe, hygienic, and high-quality production, processing, storage, and
presentation of animal-based food products. Its primary goal is to generate
scientific knowledge on food safety and hygiene to protect public health, to
equip students with both theoretical and practical skills, and to train
qualified professionals for the industry.
Within the department, students
receive education on topics such as animal-based food production technologies,
microbiological and chemical analysis methods, food safety systems (HACCP, ISO
22000), hygiene and sanitation practices, and food legislation. In addition,
students benefit from hands-on training opportunities through well-equipped
laboratory facilities.
This department plays an active
role in education, research, and public service, and contributes to public
health by preparing future veterinarians to work in the field of food safety in
both the public and private sectors.
